Mount Airy Casino and Resort: Phase 1 Installation
After the better part of the year, we are thrilled to see the installation of Phase 1 of Mount Airy Resort and Casino's Environmental Graphics Program. We, here at SP+O enjoyed the challenge that was presented by this particular project.
The large scope of wayfinding and directional signs needed for this program, both indoor and outdoor, gave our designers the chance to adapt an aesthetic personality across almost every concievable variety of sign. From towering, internally lit, Vehicular Directionals to the somewhat less domineering (and expensive) bathroom signs, the use of materials and colors allowed us to keep a cohesive feel.
One of the major challenges (and most fun parts) of the Mount Airy Casino and Resort project was the variety of unique identification signs necessitated by this facility. Several restaurants, a nightclub, and a few retail outlets all needed their own distinct look. One particularly challenging aspect was the "Red Steakhouse" ID sign. Our designers were tasked with transforming a rather simple, pre-existing, logo, into an eye catching, 3-D piece, all on a surface that hadn't yet been built! Lets just say that more than a few heads got scratched.
